The Violet Hours Book Review Blogaversary

To the Wonderful
Becca & Andrea at

To celebrate Becca is putting together an amazing interview and giveaway with the very sexy Maxwell brothers from Octavian's Undoing by Airicka Phoenix.

About Becca:

So Becca  is an English major, 22 years old, enjoys walking along the beach–but not really, this isn’t a dating site, and I’m most likely not interested unless of course you are one of the many, many, many, many boys in books I’ve fallen in love with and has ruined any chance for real flesh and blood men. So back to what I was getting at, I like to read–no, that’s not right, just ask Andrea; I am obsessed with reading. Do it instead of homework–it’s a problem. I am a hardcore–maybe to the point of a problem–paranormal fan. I love sci-fi, and on rare, very RARE occasions do I read contemporary fiction. I do enjoy the classics. Well, that’s a bit of a lie. I am an English major so I have those books forced upon me and sometimes we find winners. A few of my favorite authors, and mind you I said a few, are Quinn Loftis, Amy Bartol, Jennifer Armentrout, Wendy Higgins, and Erica Stevens … I should stop or I will go on forever. Some of Andrea’s favorites are shared favorites so don’t feel left out ;). And NOW IT’S ANDREA’S TURN (also I will probably not write in all caps; it bothers us English/Creative Writing Majors).
Becca Quote:
So as you know, probably. I love LOVE LOVE LOVE Airicka Phoenix, i love her writing, i love her characters, i love her as a person. She is a good friend, and I am soosososoo honored she agreed to do this with me.

So for the surprise for the Blog-a-versary
I got to do an exclusive, all access, (and yes alll access ladies)
Interview with the Maxwell Brothers.
So please do join us on December 21st, both here (https://www.facebook.com/TheVioletHourBookReviews), and on my blog (http://theviolethourbookreviews.wordpress.com/), for the interview. Oh did i mention I will be giving away a paperback of Octavian's Undoing?
Be there or be square — with Airicka Phoenix Author and Kimberly Schaaf.

Meet the Maxwell boys:

Octavian's Undoing:

No good deed goes unpunished.

Riley Masters learns this the hard way when she finds a wallet and decides to do the right thing. But returning it will cost her much more than she bargains for.

Abandoned by her mother, raised by an indifferent father, Riley has accepted the fact that she would be alone always. She has no idea that a single act of kindness would propel her into a world where creatures that shouldn’t exist guard the human race from the demons that lurk in the shadows. That it will cost her the lives of those she loves while unearthing a destiny she never imagined with a man who is forbidden to love her. She finds passion, romance and the family she’d been searching for her entire life, but at what cost and what is she willing to sacrifice to find answers and happiness?

Octavian Maxwell has always known his place. He is a Caster, a Son of Judgment. His job is to protect the mortal world from the creatures plotting to destroy it. Instead, his world is shattered when a human girl walks into Final Judgment, a girl he has been searching for his entire life, a girl he is forbidden to ever touch. Being with her will break the oath he’s sworn to never love a mortal. But his heart has already found its mate and it refuses to let go.

Final Judgment… a place undetected, a gateway to evil and a legend that will undo everything anyone has ever known about our world.

Revealing Kia blog tour and giveaway

Revealing Kia
By Airicka Phoenix

SYNOPSIS
The events of Claudia’s party were nothing more than a distant memory as far as Kia was concerned. She was ready to resume her life as though that night had never happened. But it’s a slippery slope keeping a secret and Kia’s about to learn just how hard when she’s faced with the truth and the consequences of her decision.
Adam Chaves was no stranger to girls wanting him. He was no stranger to breaking hearts, although never intentionally. What he didn’t understand was how Kia could undress him, touch him, burn him with her eyes and still keep him at arm’s length when it was evident how much it cost her. But what Kia didn’t realize was that he had never given up on anything in his life and he wasn’t about to start now. He would have his girl even if it meant he had to kidnap her to do it.

EXCERPT:

“You  better  hurry.” The  low,  lazy  drawl had me turning back to the room. Adam lay on his back, arms folded beneath his head. “I think I’m beginning to doze off again.” Stifling my laugh, I stole a peek up and down  the  hall  before  slipping  inside  and shutting the  door. I  crept  across the room,  careful  not  to stir Kenny who snored like he’d swallowed a blow horn. “I don’t know if I want to wake you,” I murmured, stopping when my knee bumped the edge of the mattress. “You might throw me into a snow bank, too.” There  was something intense  about the  way  he  watched me. I  didn’t  know what it was, but it had my heart galloping and my body reacting in  a way that brought a flush to my face. “The only place I’m going to throw you is right here.” He had my wrist before I could catch his meaning. I was yanked onto the bed, still warm and rumpled from his body. I might have squeaked or gasped or something, but it was a distant memory  when  his  mouth  took  claim  of  mine.  It wasn’t  a  kiss.  It was  war. It  was  cruel  and  hot  and demanding.  It was  his  hands  ripping up my body, fisting in my clothes, in my hair as his body restrained
mine, pinning me to the mattress. He kissed me as though he would die if he didn’t consume me. My legs were roughly thrown  apart  and my  thighs were filled by the  pressure  of  his  hips settling  into  place. A sound between a whimper and  a cry left me as his body aligned with mine in a way that sent fire racing through my veins. I was only barely conscious of anything except how much I wanted him to keep going. It was only due to the snortgrunt from the other occupant in the room that I tumbled down a notch from the  heights  he  was  taking  me.  “Kenny,”  I  gasped,  my  body  bowing  into  his.  He snarled.  His  fingers tightened in my hair, making me cry out as sharp slivers of delicious pleasure ripped through me. “Adam!”he hissed. “When you’re in my bed, it’s only Adam.” “Adam!” I obediently complied. Then he kissed me again.

Kia Valentines had always accepted the fact that she was a nerd, a nobody. It was a badge she wore with honor, until the day she saved Claudia DeLorenzo’s life and lost herself.
When offered the chance to shed her identity for a single night, Kia never believed it would change her life. It was one night. It meant nothing, or it shouldn't have. But that single night turned out to be her undoing when she finds passion in the arms of the one person she can never have.

Adam Chaves was more than just a gorgeous face, he made her laugh, but more importantly, when he looked at her, she felt like the most beautiful girl on earth. But Adam has no idea that Kia was the girl behind the mask and Kia has no intention of telling him. But a secret could only be kept if no one else knows about it. My review:
I'd like to start by saying thank you to Airicka. I recieved and ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

I LOVED Finding Kia but it was just one of those books that I couldn't write a review for. I hate spoilers myself so I try not to give anything away when writing reviews and I just couldn't do it. Nothing I wrote sounded good enough to describe such a great book. So after about an hour of typing, deleting, typing, deleting I just gave up knowing I could never do it justice. With that said I am going to try my hardest to write this review.

Okay it may be short and sweet but here it goes.

As always with Mrs. Phoenixs' the book was amazing! I sat down and read it in one sitting. I shouldn't have since it kept me up until three in the morning but I couldn't help myself I just couldn't put it down. It's funny because I haven't read a book in one sitting since Betraying Innocents which is also an wonderful book by Airicka Pheonix.

The first book in the series, Finding Kia, was a great book with a nasty cliffhanger. So I impatiently had to wait to find out what the heck happened next. Revealing Kia picks up pretty close to where it left off. The first chapter was such a great way to continue the story. It reminds you of just how great Kia and her best friend Vanessa are together. They are so opposite that they compliment each other the way only best friends can.

I like reading books that have more than one point of view it gives you more depth to the story. Revealing Kia is told from two: Kia and Adam. Thinking about it now it would have been nice to have had some of Vanessa's point of view as well. She goes through alot in this book and I would have liked to get inside her head a little.

I love Kia. She's not a cookie cutter beautiful girl who just "doesn't know it" like alot and main female characters out there. She has flaws and embraces them. She's not a girlie girl either, she love jeans and sweaters, loves cupcakes and isn't afraid to admit it, and she really doesn't care what other people think of her. She's "real".

Kia's best friend Vanessa is the exact opposite. She knows she's beautiful, she loves to pamper herself and is never seen less than perfectly put together.

Adam is Vanessa's brother and Kia's love interest. The problem is that being loyal to Vanessa also means that Adam is off limits. He's very sweet, swoon worthy and determined to make Kia his.

The story flowed very nicely. Like I said before I couldn't put it down. I love the way Airicka touched on very real problems teenagers deal with. With every kid out there glued to their cell phones every second of the day it makes you realize just how cruel and out of hand kids can get with just a touch of a button. I also really enjoyed the tender moments between Kia and Adam. They are so sweet with each other.

Well I think if I don't stop talking now I'm going to give too much away. If you haven't guessed it by now I LOVED IT! As always Airicka did and amazing job.

About the author:

hannah2
I am a born and bred wild child. (Or I like to think so anyway!) I moved to sunny Folkestone to escape and find my feet as, well whatever I was destined to be! But alas, my short attention span made finding that destiny a little difficult! One day I came across a diary entry that made me laugh so hard; I actually fell off my chair. (Yes, this can happen!)
I decided that the entry was so funny; it needed to be shared with the world! So I started writing, and attempted to turn it into a novel. Though to this day, that novel remains unfinished, it will always be the novel that got me started, and showed me what I was passionate about. Honestly? I have aspired to be everything from a Private Investigator to a Zoo Keeper with my career; my interests change so quickly that I could never stick with one! Writing gives me the freedom to choose; I can be a cold-hearted assassin in love with a poet one day and the secret lesbian lover of a politician the next!
All my life, I have had a strong, unwavering passion for anything supernatural, spiritual and slightly unexplainable, I love the idea that there can be something completely fantastical lurking beneath the confines of normality. So of course, mythical creatures of all shapes and sizes dominate most of my work!
In a nutshell, I am a creative crazy bean, living with my lovely husband and a house full of too many animals! I’ve always secretly wished I were a werewolf of some description, but have come to realise that I will have to settle for writing about them instead! I’m happiest in the sun with my head in a good book!

My review:

First I like to thank the author and Tiffany from This Redhead LOVES books (who put together the blog tour) for letting me read an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Adult content rating: This book contains content unsuitable for young readers 17 and under, and which may be offensive to some readers of all ages.

One of the things I love about the scifi, fantasy and dystopian genres is that there are no rules. Every story is is different and original with no boundaries as to where the authors imagination can take you. When I read this type of book I feel like I get to take a journey into the mind and imagination of someone greater than my self. That journey usually takes me to places I could never imagine. Some good, some bad but almost always amazing. Eternavix did just that.

The story easily took hold of me from the first page. Vivid descriptions of the characters and places opened my mind and let me see the story unfold in my minds eye.

Eternavix is told from two very different points of view, Mara and Be-elzebub, opposites in almost every way. I personally really enjoy reading books from different POVs because it gives the story and characters more dimension.

I read this book in two settings, it would have been one but at four am I decided I'd better get at least a couple of hours of sleep. I loved the flow of the story and the evolution of the characters.
I love the way Mara changes Be-elzebub. She makes him start looking at himself and the world differently and it changes him.  This book was an awesome book on it's own as a stand alone novel but i'm crossing my fingers that this is just the beginning of what is sure to be an AMAZING scifi series.
